BMX Challenge
The excitement and popularity of BMX racing has caught the attention of not only the International Olympic Committee with BMX now being an Olympic sport, but also Leyland Round Table!
BMX racing is an extremely exciting sport making it an exhilarating event for a Tabling Challenge. We have some expert tuition, controlled and structured by highly qualified British Cycling BMX coaches and Ex Pro riders for the evening before having an opportunity to compete in a race, Moto-Cross-style, around a 300-400m track, with jumps, bump and berms (that's banked corners to you and me)!

Preston Pirates BMX Club can boast to being the NUMBER 1 CLUB in the country after winning all club awards available to them including NORTH REGION CLUB CHAMPIONS, NATIONAL CLUB CHAMPIONS, BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP CLUB CHAMPIONS AND PRESTON SPORTS DEVELOPMENT CLUB OF THE MONTH in October 2009 and remains focused on youth and nurturing local talent being the only BMX club in the country to have its own Academy for its more talented riders.
Preston Pirates BMX Club was established four years ago at its London Road venue, a site that is still under going improvements as the club grows. Further plans are also in for a classroom to be added to the site and an extra container to help them expand and grow their capacity. The Preston Pirates Club now has in excess of 100 members and is proud of its affiliation to the British Cycling Federation.
With the Olympic athletes due to train on the track in 2010 it really is a good time to be one of the Pirates. Their aim is to promote grass roots riding throughout the region, with resident qualified training instructors who take regular coaching sessions for schools, cubs and beavers amongst others and now Leyland Round Table members.
The evening consists of an introduction to the Preston Pirates Club and all that it has to offer, its achievements and planned expansions of its facilities and track. We then have a fully qualified British Cycling BMX Coach to prepare us in how to ride the track safely and then hopefully by the end of the session we will be confident enough to have a race?!
We finish the evening with a meal and refreshments at a local restaurant.
