Fires and a Bushtucker Bonanza
Leyland Round Table struck a light on the night of their bushcraft course in starting a fire and feasted on the BBQ provided by Sylvesters Farm Shop.
Leyland Round Table Members and guests present for the professional bush craft course on starting a 'fire from a spark' by Mike Rushton from Tamarack Outdoors were in for roaring evening!
An introduction through 'the history of man and fire' provided the background for our evening and we were provided with further skills on fire preparation, maintenance, and managing a fire for a given task.
The course involved various equipment and materials needed in lighting fires and everything was demonstrated. Many of us 'had a go' through out the hands-on, practical skills session and learned how to take advantage of what the natural world provided.
This lure of fire has remained one of the strongest instincts to the human race and so this will undoubtedly be an impressive skill for when we go camping with the lads or at this years Bonfire and Firework Display at Worden Park, Leyland in November!
The evening also included a BBQ provided by Sylvester Farm Shop which primarily stock's Sylvesters Farm reared meat which is ethically produced on site to the highest standard and is farm assured within the FABBL system. Trust us when we say 'It was delicious'..
