Why Join the Round Table?

Where else would you experience activities you wouldn't normally do, build lifelong trusted friendships, get the opportunity to develop valuable skills, and contribute to your local community, all while building a unique network of personal and professional contacts? That's why people join The Round Table Movement.

Ask Tablers why they joined Table, and you will get a variety of different answers. For many it is the social aspect - they want to widen their circle of friends, or have moved to a new area and find it a great way to build up a new social network. For others, existing friends are already Tablers, and ask them along to give it a go.

The real attraction of The Round Table Movement, however, goes far beyond this. Because what Tablers find, once they become members, is a unique combination of elements that you simply can't find in any other club.

The Round Table is all about trying a diverse range of fun activities that you wouldn't normally do as an individual, with a group of people from different backgrounds, that you wouldn't normally meet. You can learn all sorts of new skills, while making a socially responsible difference to your local community, and it's not just local -- it's a global movement, with clubs in more than 65 countries, on every continent on the world.

For Philip Murray, 30, a pharmaceutical controller who joined Margate Round Table in summer 2009, the reasons for joining were clear:

"I joined table to become part of a group that were fun loving, not scared to try something new or push themselves to new limits whist putting something back into the community.

"I could not have hoped for a more welcoming group of guys to become a part of."

As 35-year-old Edward Johns, who joined Bideford Round Table six years ago, explains, for many the attraction is instant:

"A friend (and now fellow Tabler) of mine invited me along, and I knew it was a club for me from the very first event I attended."

For some, joining Round Table changes their approach to life. Carl Bradley, 40, a Yarborough Tabler of almost 17 years, got involved with a local charity who fly children with life-threatening illnesses to Lapland to meet Santa each Christmas, through the Round Table. He says he will always be thankful for the results:

"What was effectively a chance meeting turned out to be a fantastic life experience for me.  The team work and banter at events is what Table is all about, it has helped me to develop new skills personally and above all the sense of achievement is impossible to describe.

"If I  wasn’t a Tabler I wouldn’t have been invited to that first meeting and would have missed out on something which has gone on to be a huge part of my life and also that of my family.

"A huge thanks – to the people who got me involved, and to Table."

If you would like to take advantage of this unique combination of elements that has the power to change lives, find your local Round Table club, and come along for a couple of regular events for free.

You never know where it might take you.
